Click the image for a larger view.  In the 6th century, women would bleed themselves to have paler skin!  In the 1600’s, wealthy women started wearing face powder made from arsenic.  I think it’s interesting that only the death of husbands is noted!  I mean, what about the person wearing the stuff???!!@!  LOL  Makeup contained high levels of mercury and lead in the 1700’s.  The use of beet juice for the lips and cheeks by Victorian era females is interesting.  I remember my mom telling me about that one.  The first eyelash curler, Kurlash, was invented in the 1920’s.  🙂
