Fun with High-Tech Tools!

My sweet friend Marci is a licensed aesthetician,  She owns her own business called Spa 131. When it comes to your face, she is the bomb!  Seriously.  I just got back from a treatment at her brand-new studio.  She actually moved into a different room, but is located at the same address.  The room is super comfortable and relaxing.

Today, I got an Alpha Peel.  I have to admit that this stung the you-know-what out of my face!  But, as my Mom always told me “No Pain, No Gain!”  I only had to have it on my skin for four minutes.  Marci followed this with the application of a lipid serum.  She used a special tool called an “Ultrasonic Spatula” to cause the lipid treatment to penetrate deeply.   This device made a humming/buzzing noise as it was moved across my face.

I had a few zits (we started calling them zysts, mostly because both of us were having a speaking problem today, but also because the word is a combination of zit + cysts!) so she pulled out another tool she called her “Magic Wand” to zap them!

After my thorough facial treatment, I took some pix of these high-tech tools!  I also got more information about them, as they were quite fascinating! (I am probably not using the correct technical name for them, but if you ask about these, I’m sure a skin-care expert will know exactly what you are talking about!)

The “Magic Wand” is a high frequency pulse tool that penetrates deep into the skin with a high frequency current.  It kills bacteria quickly and heals blemishes and cysts (Zysts).  You can see the electric current coming through the glass tube, reminding me of something from  Star Wars!

The Ultrasonic Spatula is used for many things.  Marci says this is her “favorite tool”!  It is great for deep extractions and product penetration.  The Spatula is also used in facial sculpting and browlifts by toning muscles and skin tissue, giving a reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  This miracle tool increases circulation and oxygen to give your skin a healthy, radiant glow.  From her site:

Microcurrent facial toning treatments send safe, painless impulses to the muscles in your face that help overly-tightened muscles to relax and helps under worked muscles to regain strength. In essence, microcurrent facial toning “re-educates” the facial muscles and restores them back almost to their original shape.

When this happens the visible results are quite dramatic and the face is lifted, firmed and toned back to a much more youthful appearance. At the same time, the microcurrents improve circulation to your face which stimulates production of collagen, improves tone and texture, and improves or eliminates fine lines.
