healthy smileBoth are good for your heart!  When gum disease is kept at bay, there isn’t the risk of bacteria entering your bloodstream!  Gum disease has few warning signs and most people don’t know they have it until a dentist tells them they do.  Ugh!  Gum disease increases the level of unhealthy bacteria in your body.  This stuff can trigger an immune response that causes your blood vessels/arteries to constrict, swell and collect plaque – increasing the chance of heart problems!  Patients who see a dentist twice a year cut their risk for stroke, heart attacks, and other cardiovascular problems by at least a third, according to a study from the University of California, Berkeley.
